When Hyundai asked me to participate in this contest I knew right away it would make a great fit! Here is a little bit about my family’s story…

It was 2002, I was 16. I was pretttttyy punk rock you guys (note: sarcasm). So punk RAWK (if you will) that I was the lead singer in an all girl punk band called PMS. I know, so embarrassing. Michael, a 17 year old curly-haired boy from the headlining punk band, Up Against Me, approached me at one of our shows while I was standing with a group of my friends. This story has long been debated between us but I’ll be fair and tell Michael’s version.

“I approached Tiffany, because I thought she was cool. I tapped her on the shoulder and complemented her dress. She whipped her hair in my face, said rudely ‘Thanks. I made it myself.’ and stormed off into the distance.” Six years later (2008) we were married.

Six point five years later we were (SURPRISE!) pregnant with our son, Jude Dylan. The power of our combined punk RAWKness must have been undeniable, because as soon as Jude exited the womb, he was ready to ROCK. Even the nurses noted, We’ve never seen a newborn with such energy! Ummm, us either. Thanks? Before Jude could even walk, he DANCED. I mean, watch out ladies, ‘cuz he about to bust a move. Shortly after Jude turned Two, we learned that our Jude was in fact extra special, he was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder. One of the tests we had to put him through was a hearing test, where we learned that Jude actually has an extra spidey-like hearing sense! His ability to hear things extra precise explained to Michael and I why this kid loved music so much, why he loved to rock out to Yo Gabba Gabba 50 Bajillion times a day, why he was so extra awesome.

A few months later, beautiful baby Ruby Mae joined our band and we finally felt complete. Ruby not only shares Jude’s love for music and dance, but could possibly give him a run for his money. Baby girl can drop it LOW. Originally when Michael and I found out we were (SOMEONEPLEASESAVEME) pregnant with Jude, we somewhat feared that this change meant our lives were over. Little did we know, the best was yet to come.

One of the incredible things about children is getting to experience things for the first time again, through their eyes and ears. We’d be lying if we said some days we didn’t miss preforming on stage (especially when we are covered in puke and diarrhea) , but the dance parties in our living room? The sing alongs in the car? We wouldn’t trade those moments for the world.
